I think a lot of it depends on what style of game play you like. For me I'm more of a "frontline" player so I went with a warrior/ranger. This way I get to be a "tank" and get in on all the action. But if you like to sit back and heal, then you'll want to consider a monk. Best thing is just to experiment and find what you like, and most of all, have fun!

Basically ask your self what you want. There is more to it than this, but the basic question could be:
Want to heal other people? Take a monk Want to fight in melee? Take a warrior Want to deal damage? Take an elementalist Want to play control? Take a mesmer Necro and ranger are harder to define. When you are in the game you can do secondary class quests for each of the 5 professions you did not pick, so you can get a taster of each of them before you descide what you want as a secondary class. I personally made 4 characters before I ended up with one I liked (Necro/Warrior - neah, elementalist - hmmw, ranger/mes - nice shall keep but not my main, Warrior/Monk - yeah, that rocks for me). |

the main site here is the best site for build info imo read it, copy it, or understand it then copy it...the choice is yours. if you're looking for the simplest thing to play i'd have to say the good old fashioned warrior/monk is best suited for simplicity, and beginners. |
